Drummondville, December 10, 2019. – This Saturday at 4 p.m., the Lighting Ceremony was held at the Desjardins Illuminated Village, an event during which the Village québécois d’antan team inaugurated the new Place festive Desjardins as well as the official illumination of the village.

“…5, 4, 3, 2, 1, GO!” More than 1,000 people chanted their hearts out before seeing the village adorned with its 25,000 sparkling lights. A few minutes earlier, the Feu Fou experience had given them a flamboyant performance by skillfully wielding flaming sticks. It was the very first performance at the new Place festive Desjardins, which Paul Gagné, General Manager of the Caisse Desjardins de Drummondville, had the honour of inaugurating before giving way to the songs of the Gospangels. “For us, it is a privilege to be associated with the Village québécois d’antan,” he said. The Caisse Desjardins de Drummondville is the main financial partner of the Illuminated Village.

Representatives from L’expérience Feu Fou, the Gospangels and Mackinaw will be on hand to animate this space on opening night.

A gift before Christmas

Representatives from the Caisse Desjardins de Drummondville were also on hand to distribute more than a hundred free tickets among Desjardins members who arrived at the box office. “For large families, that’s a lot. Some even had tears in their eyes! It really warmed our hearts to give them this gift,” explained Andréane Proulx, Communications and Associative Life Agent at the Caisse.

Upcoming evenings of activities

The Desjardins Illuminated Village will be open to visitors on December 13 and 14 and from December 20 to January 3 inclusively (closed on December 25 and January 1), from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
