With festive, magical and more authentic programming than ever!
Drummondville, November 13, 2018 – The Village québécois d’antan launched the 16th edition of the Desjardins Illuminated Village in a festive atmosphere. The event will be held on December 7, 8, 14 and 15 and from December 21 to January 2 inclusively (closed December 25 and January 1), from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets for the visit and for the visit and meal packages are on sale now at villagequebecois.com.
According to the General Manager, Mr. Guy Bellehumeur, “This year, we have chosen to immerse our visitors even more in the spirit of the holiday season, as it was experienced in our villages at the time. We will see the inhabitants getting ready for New Year’s Eve, we will visit the cabinetmaker who makes toys for the children in his workshop, the saddler who makes the bells, the cook who makes potato candies…”.
People will rediscover the classics of the Desjardins Illuminated Village such as outdoor games, music and dance in the houses, teasing elves, animated storytelling and Christmas merchants. There will also be a giant slide in the church hill and a snowy maze that will delight young and old children alike.
The Village is pleased to welcome again this year the Gospangels choir and the traditional music group Rose Bouche, who will join the musicians of the Village québécois d’antan to get visitors dancing and singing in their homes.
The Desjardins Illuminated Village would not be complete without Santa Claus! This year, he will be installed in his workshop in the very heart of his kingdom. Children will have to cross the enchanted trail and the fairy tunnel to find Santa and his elves who will welcome them to receive their gift list and offer them a little surprise.
Gifts are part of the tradition and our Christmas market is a perfect opportunity to make the most beautiful finds. A dozen merchants are waiting for you with exclusive products of high quality. In addition, the Village souvenir shop will again this year be bursting with unique gift ideas.
Visit and Holiday Meal Package
The “Holiday visit and meal” package, hosted by our traditional musicians, is back this year. You are invited to enjoy a traditional meal in a festive atmosphere. Your favourite holiday dishes, served with the touch of our Executive Chef William L’Heureux, will make your visit to the Desjardins Illuminated Village an unforgettable experience.
A special evening will be held on December 31 for New Year’s Eve with a more elaborate menu and as is the tradition, bubbles will be served around midnight. Reservations must be made early, as seats always fly out quickly.
